تعتبر الصداقة الحقيقية جوهرة الحياة الناجحة والمستقرة، فالصديق الوفي الحنون الذي يستوعب بأن مفهوم الصداقة ليست كلمة فقط أو دلالة عن الصحبة التي تنطوي على المصالح أو زمالة مؤقتة في حقائب الدراسة أو في مجال العمل، إنما تعني بمعناها الكبير الذي يعتمد على المشاركة والتبادل بين الأصدقاء الأوفياء في جميع أمورهم الحياتية وهمومها ومشاكلها، وفي مساندة الصديق والوقوف بجانبه في الأزمات، ومساعدته بموضوعية وقلب مُحب في إتخاذ القرارات، وتصويبه عن الوقوع في الخطأ أو الإنجراف في لحظة يأس نحو الطريق السيء.

لا بد أن يحترم الصديق صديقه، ويحترم رأيه، ويبتعد عن قمعه أو استغلاله أو التسلط عليه، أو السخرية منه، ولا يمكن أن يجعل الفارق الطبقي أو الاجتماعي بينهما سببًا ليؤذي صديقه أو يستكبر عليه أو يُعامله بفوقيّة، بل لا بد أن يكون الاحترام هو سيد كل المواقف بين الأصدقاء، ومهما بلغت بينهم المشاكل والاختلافات، لا ُيمكن تغييب الاحترام بين الطرفين، فبمجرد غيابه سيُقضى على الصداقة وسيصعب ترميمها.
